The Maasai Tribe description

The Maasai tribe is the largest Nilotic group of people living in northern Tanzania and Kenya. As they are pastoral and fully nomadic, they wander in bands throughout the year. They almost leave by depending entirely on the meat, blood, and milk of their herds. They are among the best-known tribes worldwide due to their distinctive customs, and their residence near many game parks.

The Maasai speaks the Maa language that is a member of the Nilo-Saharan family. The Maasai village consists of four to eight families and their animals like cattle, goats, sheep, etc. Polygyny is common among older men. A wife lending occurs between men of the same age-set. Marriage involves a substantial bride-price in livestock.

The Tanzanian government has programs to encourage the Maasai to abandon their traditional lifestyle. Even though, they have continued their age-old customs.

Zorilla Safaris And Treks are happy to arrange for your tour to meet them. For sure you’ll have an opportunity to interact with them, experience their customs and daily life activities.
